Sad News for Junebug Creations

I have been avoiding this post for several weeks, but I suppose I should fill you all in on the latest news that will affect my business. A new set of laws, called the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act), will go into effect on February 10, 2009 and will require all items intended for use by children 12 and under to be tested for lead. Sounds like a great idea right? Well, it's not so good for those of us making and selling handmade items who cannot in any way, shape, or form afford the testing they require.

I have signed many petitions and sent letters to government officials who might be able to help amend this law. This truly affects everyone, please read this blog post by another children's clothing designer for more detailed information on how it might affect you.

I had originally planned to put some Valentine's Day and St. Patricks items on the website, but I'm sorry to say I will not be doing that now because of the new law. I certainly don't want to be fined or do jail time for selling my sweet creations.

Be sure to check back in the near future just in case we find out some good news about this unfortunate law. Thanks so much to all of you who have supported me for the short time I've been in business.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you are disappointed. Although I think I heard on the news this morning they are delaying this another year. Is that correct? Anyway, I pray that God will show you His plans for you and Junebug Creations.
